You do not need a car to explore the city of Lagos as beaches (Praia da Batata and Praia do Pinhao), Cafés, Restaurants are all nearby.
Lagos has a long history of seamanship and discoveries as well as the less agreeable slave trade. Monuments and traces of those events can still be seen within the old city walls. Modernity mingled with antiquity create the special flair of this coastal town with its modern Marina and old churches.
There are many bars & restaurants within the city walls and many leisure activities are availbale from either the Avenida or Marina, such as kayaking, surfing, dolphin boat trips and many more.
